Where to stay in Fez
Where to stay in Fez
Fez has a wide range of accommodations for every traveler’s budget: I stayed at two accommodations, both very different in terms of budget and style. So, here you have my tips on where to stay in Fez:
A week ago I published a blog post on my favorite places to visit and restaurants in Fez. You can read it here. For everyone, who hasn’t yet decided on where to stay in Fez, I hope that this post will help you decide!
I stayed in Fez twice since we did a short trip from Fez to Chefchaouen and then came back to Fez for a night. So when we came back to Fez I didn’t want to stay at Dar Drissi again. I looked up a few accommodations on booking.com and found a beautiful room at Dar Bensouda. Both riads are very different in style, service and budget.
Usually, we are on a small budget and thus we stay at cheaper accommodations. But this time we were only traveling for two weeks (which means that we are a bit more flexible in terms of budget). So when I read that the many good reviews on Dar Bensouda’s booking.com site I just had to book a room and experience this paradise myself. Not to mention their outstanding view on their rooftop terraces and delicious Moroccan dishes.
Have a look at the two of them yourself:
The quality-price ratio is very good at Dar Drissi! I asked the staff to organize a pick-up at the train station for us before we flew to Morocco. The communication went very smoothly throughout our stay. We were even picked up by the manager from the parking lot where we were dropped off by our driver. Breakfast was generous and the room was always very clean. We paid 36€ per night for two people, which I find very appropriate. Dar Drissi met all my needs.
Even though Dar Bensouda is more expensive compared to Dar Drissi, I was very happy to have booked a room at this wonderful place. I immediately noticed that the service at Dar Bensouda is top – beginning from the pick-up by a local guide who led us to the riad to the very relaxed welcome by the staff, to the beautiful room. You immediately get the sense that “the customer is king” – it’s all about a perfect experience and smooth stay. If your budget allows for it, stay here! Definitely make sure to book a table for dinner (240MAD for a three-course menu) and also do not miss sunset on the rooftop! For 72€ a night for the standard room, this place does not disappoint! I was sad to leave this gorgeous hotel after just one night.
I hope I could help you guys find the perfect place to stay for your trip to Fez. Both options are amazing!
