PH Hotel Oosteinde · Amsterdam

Hey guys, it’s been a while since I posted my last entry. I had to prepare for some exams and now I’m officially in the holidays, however, there are still two papers due. So, there is a lot of work ahead, but let’s stay positive right? I have followed so many wonderful people on Instagram and since I had the feeling that something was still missing on my blog, I went through their websites for inspirations. So here it is, my first entry to my newly introduced category Tried & Tested. I will mainly post accommodation reviews from my travels here. That way I can concentrate more on the stories, tips and experiences in my main entrees and then, post seperate Tried & Tested entrees to give you exact details about where I stayed, if I liked it and so on. So, without further a do, let’s jump right into my first review.

Location

The hotel is easily accessible on foot or by tram lines. It’s not located in the touristy center of Amsterdam and only a few steps away from really cool streets with a good choice of restaurants and coffee places. As public transport tickets are quite expensive, you can walk to the center in about 15 minutes.

Price

Actually the prices are quite high as PH Hotel Oosteinde is a boutique hotel, but as for my stay there, I found a really good deal on booking.com! The room we had was a Standard Room in the 4th floor and we only paid 75€ for two people. The girl from the reception told me that they normally sell this room for about 250€. The price didn’t include breakfast, but we wanted to have breakfast at another place anyway, so that wasn’t a problem for us. For those who are interested in having breakfast at PH Hotel Oosteinde: there is a surcharge of 12,50€ per person.

One thing I really loved though, was the offer of free tea and coffee 24/7.

Room

This hotel is styled and furnished in dark shades which makes it super interesting. The Standard Room itself is very modern and has a comfy bed. There is a proper (rainshower) shower and toilet room, but the sink is in the bedroom. Next to the sink there are free toiletries, a hair-dryer, towels and a safe. It had everything we needed for our stay.

Service

The icing on the cake was in my opinion the super friendly lady from the Front Office. When we were downstairs to drink some tea, she came to make herself some tea too and started talking to us and asking questions. She was super outgoing and gave us really good advice on where to go to get the best Stroopwafles in Amsterdam.

Amenities

There is a storage room for the luggage. So if you have to check out, but still want to stroll around in the area without having to take the luggage with you, just leave it there. The door can only be opened by staff members and therefore it’s really safe.

Résumé

All in all, I would say that I loved my stay at the hotel. I wouldn’t have booked a room if the price would have been higher than 80€. But as I found this pretty good deal on booking.com I just couldn’t resist. If you would like to stay in a quite calm area, this is the place where you can go. Free tea and coffee, a comfy bed and very friendly staff – if that’s all you need, that’s your place to stay! I highly recommend it!
